U.S. Ends Temporary Protected Status for Cameroonians

The U.S. administration has ended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Cameroonians, affecting approximately 7,900 individuals who were granted temporary safety in the United States. This decision has raised concerns among human rights organizations and advocacy groups, who are urging the government to reconsider the move.

The Trump administration announced on Friday that it was revoking the Temporary Protected Status—or TPS—for thousands of immigrants from Cameroon and Afghanistan who are currently living and working in the United States. The move, the latest attempt by the administration to roll back protections for migrants in the U.S. who cannot safely return to their home countries due to conflict or natural disasters, comes despite the fact that advocates say conditions in both countries remain dangerous.
